EC PC are our initials
EzyPzy is how we want to live life.
We are Elizabeth and Peter, New Zealanders by birth and proud to be Kiwis. Though both of us were born in the South Island, Peter in Canterbury and Elizabeth in the Nelson region, we have lived in the North Island for close to thirty years now. Home in the south will always be a favourite place for us no matter where in the world we go.
During the first 25 years of our married life we had never stepped outside of New Zealand waters together! Our first overseas trip together at the 25 year mark was (like most New Zealand folk) off to Australia for a 10 day holiday. That was when the travel bug started to bite.
When the youngest of our three sons left home in pursuit of his own hopes and dreams we decided it was time to make some changes, little knowing just how far those changes would take us…
So often people look forward to their retirement years where they will finally get to do all the fun extravagant things that they have worked so hard for. Maybe travel, explore the world a bit. How many times have you heard the sad stories where that didn’t go to plan. That happened in our extended family and it became a catalyst for us to do things differently. We share a love of traveling and yet by no means were we financially well off enough to travel the world as we pleased. How could we make it happen.
Around this time we discovered the wonderful world of house sitting and found that we would qualify for a UK Ancestry visa. A plan took shape and action followed. We gave up our jobs, packed up all our belongings and put them in storage, rented out our house, secured a couple of house sitting assignments to get us started, bought one way tickets and jetted off to the UK.
That was 3 years, 18 countries, 45 house sits, 110 beds and 120 pets ago.
We were having such an amazing time and house sitting opportunities kept flowing in for us through Trustedhousesitters. Very quickly the days, weeks and months zoomed by. Making the most of every minute and being so busy meeting new and interesting people, we never got around to writing a blog as we had originally intended to do. All along our travels the most common comment made to us has been…….”You should write a book!”
A blog is sort of a book. So, we’re Peter & Elizabeth, & this is our story!
